Anderson
Repeater Club, Inc.
September, 2007
Our September meeting will be on the Tuesday after Labor Day, September 4, at 7:00PM in the EOC Training Room. Please plan to attend. If you have a technical topic of interest or a new gadget to demonstrate be sure to bring it along.
There isn’t a lot of Club news this month. Since we did not meet in July I hope that you’ll want to get back together with us this month. The July Newsletter included the last Meeting Minutes so we have none here.
We have no new member applications or member renewals, so it appears that our membership is going to be 32 for the year. Fortunately 29 of you have e-mail accounts and receive this letter without cost to our treasury. Also 23 are recorded as ARRL members.
The Club Web Site has had some difficulties in the last few weeks. Matt is trying to find time to get it corrected.
Also the EMA Web Site is being completely rebuilt and will be hosted on a new server at the County Government Center. I’ve seen the draft copy and it’s fantastic. I’ll include video in addition to all the other information and documents. I think you’ll like it a lot. It may be up and running by the meeting night. If so we’ll review it. It’ll have the same address once the process is completed. The “secure” section for members only still needs to be completed, but it’ll come along.
The Mobile Communications Unit is being deployed for the concert at the Paramount Theater on Friday the 31st of AUGUST. If you are available and want to come out between 2PM and midnight come on down. We’ll be prepared should the need for communications develop, and will be working on our Incident Command training.
It’s not too early to start thinking about a nomination for “Ham-Of-The-Year”. If you feel that someone in the Club meets those goals be sure to recommend them. We’ll be actively inviting nominations at the November meeting when we open the nominations for Officers for 2008.
One other bit of trivia. In the course of the 38 years that our Club has been active we’ve had 253 different Hams as members. Considering that at any time there are less than 500 hams in Madison County it looks like we’ve touched a significant portion of the local Ham population at one time or another.
Several of our members have upgraded their license class in recent months. Congratulations to all of you who have done so. Make sure you take advantage of the new privileges and don’t limit yourself to FM communications only. There are many other technologies to take advantage of.
73,
Steve
